Behind the Scenes: Serendipity Magazine Shoot

This past weekend was definitely a crazy one!  On Saturday, I drove to LA at 4:30 in the morning (coffee definitely was in hand) to make it to my 7AM call time for the Serendipity Magazine shoot.  It was such an eventful day, with scrambling to get three different models dressed and styled in time, shooting about 7-10 bridesmaid looks, 7 (or more..I lost track) designer bridal gowns, and 4 reception dresses at another location, we definitely had our hands full!  It was so great to work with such motivated and talented people and I know that these pictures will be amazing!  Stay tuned to have the magazine be released at a Barnes and Noble store near you by the end of March. ;)

But for now, take a behind the scenes look from the shoot!

Today’s Outfit: Americana

Photography by Thuy Tran, Makeup/hair by KC Witkamp

Outfit details: DIY Collar, Top: Vintage, Skirt: from Ross, Booties: Zigi Soho, Bag: Jeffrey Campbell

After making this simple DIY collar (I used my pearl earrings because I didn’t have fabric glue and this was the best alternative!), I knew I wanted to mix this look with a color palette I don’t do so much–red, white and blue!  I know I know, I’m a little too early to be celebrating fourth of July, but this collar really made me think out of the box and it turned into a patriotic masterpiece. ;)

Plus this adorable cross-body bag was given me by Jeffrey Campbell himself!  When I went to the MAGIC convention in Las Vegas for work last summer, we stopped by the Jeffrey Campbell booth (which was incredibly busy and full of amazing pieces) and met the genius himself.  He is soo sweet and very down to earth; it was such a pleasure to meet such an influential man in the fashion industry.  This bag is a great momento from that trip and I hope I did the bag justice with this outfit. :)

Today’s Outfit: Brown & Black

Photography by Joshua Allen Green

Outfit details: Jacket: Vintage, Top: Forever 21, Shorts: Mink Pink, Shoes: Steve Madden, Scarf: Mom’s

I picked up this gorgeous color blocked jacket from Goodwill and fell in love. Its unique suede material and color-blocked pattern was something I couldn’t resist!  And for $6 it was meant to be. ;)  Happy Birthday to my amazing and supportive boyfriend!! We went to Benihanas last night and the dinner was sooo delicious. I love you!!

TGIF…for real! It’s been a crazy week with work, my side projects, and this blog.  But I’m loving the feeling of being busy!  San Diego is too good to us today, highs in the 70s today? Perfect to run all over town prepping the last minute details for tomorrow’s Serendipity Magazine photoshoot!

Happy Friday!

Today’s Outfit: Business Savvy

Photography by Joshua Allen Green, Makeup/hair by KC Witkamp

Outfit details: Blazer: California Vintage Connect, Gold striped top and turtleneck: Thrifted, Jeans: Forever 21, Heels: Bandolino

I decided to change up the typical “business casual” look with a pop of sparkle!  ;)   This gold/black striped top has such a great shine and really brightens up this business outfit.  You can make your work attire fun and not so “drab” with pops of color, sparkle and pizzazz. ;)

Outfit details: Leopard coat: H&M, Shorts: Forever 21, Top: Just Lov3 Boutique, Booties: Zigi Soho, Jewelry: Vintage

I fell in love when I saw this coat at H&M two years ago.  Even after two years the leopard trend is still around and I can’t imagine why not! ;)   This coat is definitely a statement piece for this shorts & top outfit.  Thank you San Diego for another sunny day. ;)   Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Inspiration: Effortless Chic

Alexa Chung is well known for her signature style of peter pan collars, clean silhouettes, and a touch of edge through her accessories.  I am such a huge fan of her effortless style that I had to create a similar go-to look on Polyvore for inspiration.  I’m going to definitely channel her style for my next couple of outfits.  Now all I gotta do is master that “effortless chic” quality and I’ll be good. ;)

Today’s Outfit: Lacey Edge

Photography by Joshua Allen Green, Makeup/hair by KC Witkamp

Outfit details: Vest & belt: California Vintage Connect, Lace bodysuit: Forever 21, Skirt: H&M, Booties: Aldo

After using this blue vest and black belt in my previous posts (1st outfit, 2nd outfit), I decided to play with these pieces again and used darker pieces for an edgier, rocker-inspired look.  I’m so inspired by vests after seeing it in all of my favorite blogs and I wanted to style it my own way.  The lace underneath gives it a feminine and edgy touch, and the booties and belt just top off the entire outfit. :)   How would you wear long vests for Spring?

Inspiration: Bridal Editorial

This whole month I’ve been prepping for an amazing project….I’m excited to announce that I’m styling an ahhh-mazing bridal editorial for Serendipity Magazine!! I’m so thrilled and blessed for this opportunity.  Serendipity Magazine caters towards the Asian American brides and captures such beauty in their editorials.  The editor sent me some inspiration images for the shoot; after seeing these images I’m currently obsessed with adorable headpieces and new alternatives for a wedding veil!  These images show that brides should have fun and try new things with jewelry and accessories, if it’s YOUR day then do what you want. ;) I can’t wait to work on this shoot next weekend, stay tuned for some behind the scenes coverage this weekend!
